Summer 2020 form Young Person's Guide to Holiday Orchestra Step 1 of 4 - Description 0% Description A Young Person's Guide to Holiday Orchestra This project is to use individual recordings to create a 'virtual orchestra' recording of Purcell's Rondo from 'Abdelazar'. We are calling this 'A Young Person's Guide to Holiday Orchestra' in homage to Benjamin Britten's wonderful Variations and Fugue on the same theme. It will be built up from individually recorded contributions from Holiday Orchestra's wonderful children and is open to all members of Holiday Orchestra who play an orchestral instrument or a recorder. In order to participate, children are asked to send us recordings, with video if possible, of themselves playing their part. Electronic wizardry will then put the recordings all together to make a full orchestra. Before you do this, however, you will be able to watch our lovely tutors in their own starring roles: they have made short teaching videos at every level for every instrument, including harps and recorders, to help players choose the most appropriate part to play and then to perfect those tricky passages before making a recording. Links to these videos and to the written music for downloading will be available to all registered participants from August 1st. Recordings must then be sent in by 5pm on August 14th for presentation of the finished orchestra on August 28th. For this project the age limits are 7 to 18 years and there is no charge and no limit to the number of participants. Upon registration for this course, you will receive details of a website (and username/password) where you can retrieve further details (parts, tuition videos, backing track) from the 1st of August. Safeguarding For 'A Young Person's Guide to Holiday Orchestra' the usual rules set out by Government and schools covering recordings to enter the public domain must apply.
